LOST SITES · OPEN DATA · 8 October 2026

5,897 Florida business records still point to a lost Google website.

A shop can still be open while its old website is gone. These records list a free business.site address as their only website. Here's where they are.

This is a count of records, not a count of owners without a website today. A business can appear more than once. Some have since built a new site.

What happened to the free sites?

In March 2024, Google closed the free websites built with Google Business Profile. The old addresses sent visitors to Business Profiles until 10 June 2024, then showed Google's "404 Not Found" error page.

The cities with the most records

These are the top 25 city labels in the Florida data. The full list is below, so smaller places have a spot too.

What kinds of businesses?

From auto repair shops to hair salons, this reaches places people use every week. These are the 12 most common business types in the records.

We use each record's main business type, with the labels put into plain words. 78 records have no business type listed.

How we counted

We used Overture Maps Places open data, release 2026-09-23.1. We kept US records marked Florida, with confidence 0.7 or higher and an operating status of open or blank. Each has just one recorded website, with a host ending in .business.site. Paths and tracking tags on those addresses don't change the count.

The supplied extract has 6,009 records after the status and confidence filter. 105 are marked outside Florida. We also left out 7 Florida records that fail the website rule, such as a different host or a redirect link. That leaves 5,897.

These are records, so a business can appear twice. City labels come from the data. We did not check them against city boundaries. Some businesses have since built a new site. We haven't checked every owner's current website or Google listing.

Checked 8 October 2026 means we counted the data on that date. It doesn't mean we visited each old site that day. We publish counts only, with no business names, phone numbers or email addresses.

What to do if this is you

Type your old business.site address into a browser. Then look at your Google listing and see where the Website button takes you, if there's one.

• Do nothing. If your listing and other pages do what you need, you may be happy with those.
• Build one yourself. Use any site builder you like, then add the new address to your listing.

This is not a notice from Google and nothing on your listing is at risk. It is an offer from a small studio.
