The free Google websites are gone. Here is what happened.

If your business had an address ending in business.site, this page is for you. We are not Google.

What happened

In March 2024, Google turned off every website built with Google Business Profile. These were the free websites with addresses ending in business.site.

Visitors to those addresses were sent to the business's Google Business Profile until 10 June 2024. The old addresses now show Google's "404 Not Found" error page.

Google also removed those addresses from the Website field on Business Profiles.

You can read Google's help announcement (archived copy) and Search Engine Journal's report. Google's live help page has since changed.

How many old addresses are still in the records? See Lost Sites, our city-by-city Florida count.

How to check yours

1. Type your old business.site address into a browser. If you see Google's "404 Not Found" error page, the website is gone.
2. Search your business name on Google and look for a Website button on your listing.
